As venue the Olympic Park in Munich, with its paved road off the main roads, with the beautiful backdrop of the Olympic Stadium has been established.
The participants come from Bavaria, the other federal states, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Russia, etc.
Those are mostly amateur runners, but also top athletes from the countries mentioned above.
Since 1997, the MRRC München, bavaria's greatest Running and Triathlon Club, is responsible for organizing the Silvesterlauf.

Of 2457 participants in the main race the winners were John Hillebrand (Sportfreunde Friedberg - 31:20) and Rebecca Robisch (LAC Quelle Fürth - 35:05).

This year the organizers counted 1974 participants at the finish of the main course.
Among them were two triathletes of the German national team, represented by Steffen Justus (Picture: Second person from left) and Jan Frodeno (Picture: First person from left).
Winner of the men was Steffen Justus (Hansgrohe-Team-Schwarzwald, 30:56) followed by Jan Frodeno (31:12), who was Olympic champion in the following year.
In the women triumphed Rebecca Robisch (LAC Quelle Fürth - 35:04).

With nearly 3,200 participants the 23rd MRRC Silvesterlauf is fully booked out. For the second time we were with start and finish area ahead the event arena on the Willi-Gebhard-Ufer.
For the women and the men the winners were old acquaintances of the event.
For the women, Ellen Clement (37:14 min) won and for the men Dennis Pyka (31:37 min) was standing at the top of the winners podest.

At the 22nd MRRC Silvesterlauf the race had nearly 3000 starters through the Olympic Park on the road. This time, the start and finish was ahaed the event arena on the Willi-Gebhard-Ufer, because the Werner-von-Linde Hall was being renovated.

For the first time the prize money for the winner will be awarded in males and females - each participant receives a score based on the current world best performances of the women (Paula Radcliffe) and men (Haile Gebrselassie).
